MEET THE COACHES

DAVE COX

In addition to being a crowd favourite at the Toronto United junior practices, Dave Cox is the Assistant Coach of the U21 Canadian Women’s Field Hockey Team, Head Coach of the U18 Canadian Indoor Team and Performance Analyst of the Canadian Senior Women’s Team. He is the Ontario Head Coach of Field Hockey Canada’s NextGen junior high-performance programme and former Team Ontario Head Coach.

Dave’s playing career with the Barbados national team spanned more than 20 years. He went on to coach the Barbados Mens National Field Hockey Team. He is a FIH Academy Level 3 Coach and FIH Academy Educator and the founder and Head Coach of the Toronto United Field Hockey Club.

MADDIE CHO

Coach Maddie meets every player where they are at and creates a welcoming and safe atmosphere for all. Growing up in BC, she was introduced to field hockey at an early age with the Vancouver Hawks, but quit before she had to wear a skirt. She instead focused on ice hockey and ringette, both as a goalie. In Grade 8, she returned to the sport when the Vancouver Regional Team reached out, needing someone willing to play in net. Maddie is a goalie before anything else and quickly made the transition to the field.

Maddie continued to play all 3 sports competitively in high school before playing field hockey at the University of Toronto. She became a member of Toronto United Field Hockey Club in 2018. Maddie has also been coaching field hockey, hockey and ringette since high school and is a celebrated community coach and player advocate.

ANDREA LOWN

Coach Andrea easily breaks down skills and translates corrections in her fun and quirky style. Through decades of coaching field hockey, ringette and powerskating, she has worked with athletes as young as five, junior high and high school, and adults.

Andrea grew up in Alberta playing provincially for 14 years before moving to Toronto. A competitive multi-sport athlete, she was the captain of the University of Alberta field hockey team and attended Canada Summer Games twice for Field hockey and once for Ringette. Andrea continues to play women’s and masters field hockey and Open AA Ringette. She currently coaches the Bishop Strachan Junior Field Hockey team, Barrie U14 AA Ringette team and the Toronto United Juniors.
